Gatterdam Company Timeline

In 1954, Gatterdam Electric Motors (GEM) was born. Ed Gatterdam and Lloyd Goemer started an electric motor repair business at 114 N. 30th Street in Louisville, KY. They concentrated on providing quality service at competitive prices. Ed's son, Fred Gatterdam, joined the company in 1977.

In 1995, Gatterdam Electric Motor became the 1st North American distributor of Weg Electric Motors.

In 1997, Gatterdam Electric Motor expanded their state of the art facility to over 11,000 sq. ft.

After more than 50 years at the helm, Ed Gatterdam passed away in 2005. Fred maintained the high standard that his father set.

In April of 2008, Schuyler John joined GEM. With Schuyler's background in sales and operations, GEM implemented technical, service, operational and equipment advances that built upon GEM's outstanding customer service record and abilities.

In October of 2011, we completed the acquisition of Atlas Machine & Supply's "Pump Division". This addition bolsters our pump specific business by adding the ability to design pump systems, perform field service, and improve our pump rebuild capabilities. We are now "Master Distributors" of the following brands: Gatterdam Pump Vendors.

We are very excited to add this seasoned group of pump veterans to our team and believe that it will accomplish our goal of becoming the region's leader in the service and distribution of motors and pumps!

In October of 2014, we moved to a new 22,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility on 4615 Bittersweet Road.

In September of 2015: At that time, we became only the 59th Accredited Service Center in the world out of over 1900 EASA shops. It is further proof of our commitment to quality, following of repair procedures, and investments in the best technology & equipment available in the industry.
